Who Are We?

The Instrumentals, (our formal name is North Fremantle Community Arts Development Inc. - NoFCAD) provides quality, accessible and inclusive community ensemble music making to mostly string instrument players – woodwind also appear - of all ages.

It is friendly, relaxed and un-auditioned...just requires some idea about reading music and the capacity to revisit a hidden childhood talent or start anew as an adult learning an instrument.

The ensembles currently represented include;

1. Buds 5-8 year olds learning technique and ensemble playing,
2. String Beans 8-12 year olds developing technique and performance skills and
3. the Dorkestra adults enjoying the challenge of reacquainting themselves with an earlier musical interest or starting at the beginning in ensemble playing.

We aim to provide these opportunities as cost effectively as we can and also have a number of instruments particularly in children’s sizes which can be lent or hired to try out the experience.

The ensembles, particularly the junior ensembles, are involved in performances at local events and we welcome this opportunity to add to our community.
