About the Dorkestra
The Dorkestra is an ensemble for adult beginner musicians. It is particularly aimed at people who learned an instrument in their youth and wish to renew their interest, or who have taken up their instrument later in life. The Dorkestra is primarily a string ensemble, but is also open to woodwind and brass players, and is deliberately fairly casual in nature.
From time to time the Dorkestra participates in music appreciation classes designed to give a theoretical and historical background to the practical elements. Music appreciation classes are open to anyone, and are equally enjoyable for musicians and for music enthusiasts who do not play an instrument. Several times each term the Dorkestra are fortunate to receive guest artists who perform classical works live in private recitals during these sessions.

The Dorkestra often continue through school holidays on a casual basis.
